DMX has warned fans not to donate to people or organisations claiming to be raising funds for his funeral. The rapper – real name Earl Simmons – died on Friday (9 April) aged 50, a week after he suffered a heart attack that left him on life support.

In the wake of his death, his family has told TMZ that any claims from people or online fundraisers alleging that they need financial assistance to pay for his funeral are false.

According to the publication, DMX’s relatives are aware that many scammers may be soliciting money in DMX’s name. They have also urged his fans to be wary of any merchandise that is being sold under the “authorisation” of the Grammy nominee’s family.
