When the dust had settled on Liverpool’s Premier League title celebrations on the Kop, when You’ll Never Walk Alone had been sung, Frank Lampard and Jurgen Klopp’s touchline row had been forgotten and the players were in the dressing room celebrating, one lone figure returned to the centre of the field.

At 10 minutes to midnight, on the day the Reds had lifted the English championship for the first time in 30 years, Divock Origi reemerged from the tunnel and returned to the field.

As staff members buzzed around him, some clearing the field of debris, others cleaning, some smiling and chatting about what had just occurred, Origi walked to the centre of the field.
