Distraught mum asks why people can go to BQ while she can't see son in coma

A distraught mum is unable to see her son in hospital where he is fighting for life due to Covid-19 restrictions. Tearful Caryn Joyner said she could not understand how the government allowed people to visit B&Q but not their critically ill children in hospital.

Her son Shay Joyner, 23, was cycling to pick up some pain relief for a sore tooth on Saturday night when he was struck by a car.

The young dad, who has a five-year-old son, was rushed to intensive care and is now in a coma. On Monday, doctors said his condition had worsenedl.

But despite his injuries Caryn, from Basildon, Essex, has not been able to visit him due to the current coronavirus restrictions.
