Jennifer Maas TV Business Writer “Fortnite” will host a livestream of Disney‘s D23 fan event Saturday featuring the “Horizons: Disney Experiences Showcase” presentation.
Streaming beginning at 8:30 p.m. PT/11:30 p.m. ET, the D23 panel will be hosted live by parks and experiences chief Josh D’Amaro and “a few special guests” and include reveals about Disney’s Fortnite partnership.
In February, Disney CEO Bob Iger announced the company had invested $1.5 billion in “Fortnite” developer Epic Games for its “biggest foray into the game space ever” with a Disney universe interoperating inside of the online platform that will “offer a multitude of opportunities for consumers to play, watch, shop and engage with content, characters and stories from Disney, Pixar, Marvel, ‘Star Wars,’ ‘Avatar’ and more.” Since then, Disney and Epic have remained quite mum on the specifics of the project until this announcement of a “Fortnite” livestream of Disney’s gaming news at D23. “Fortnite” will open access to the D23 livestream through the game’s new “Disney Horizons Live” island beginning Saturday at 7:30 p.m.
PT/10:30 p.m. ET, one hour before the showcase kicks off. “Fortnite” users can join the island via the Homebar in Discover or by using island code 7908-6413-2516.
