Disney developing musical based on Lionel Richie’s Back-Catalogue

evoke.ieVariety.The film will be penned by Crazy Rich Asians’ Pete Chiarelli and for the moment is using the working title All Night Long.The movie will be a live-action musical using Richie’s songs to guide the story.
That’s all we currently know about the plot but reportedly, we can expect it to be in the vein of Mamma Mia.Rocketman, Bohemian Rhapsody and Yesterday were all big hits in the box office (and some with critics too) so no doubt Disney are hoping to capitalise on their popularity.Who better to make a film about than Lionel’s music too as he’s one of only two hitmakers to have number one records in nine consecutive years.He’s also sold 100 million albums worldwide, won an Oscar and a Golden Globe, and has taken home four Grammy.
