Tottenham's proposed transfer of Gareth Bale from Real Madrid would give them the “strongest front-line in the league”. That’s the view of ex-Spurs striker Dimitar Berbatov, who believes the signing of the Welshman will serve as a huge statement to other potential arrivals.
Spurs are said to be closing in on a move for Bale, after the player’s agent Jonathan Barnett revealed talks between his client, and manager Jose Mourinho. “There’s a long way to go on some issues, but without doubt Gareth is closer to leaving Madrid than at any time in last seven years,” Barnett said on Wednesday. “The deal is complicated, but there’s reason to believe a deal is close and things could move very quickly if discussions continue to go well.
