Joseph Allen Maldonado-Passage (born March 5, 1963), better known by his stage name Joe Exotic, is an American former zoo operator, internet personality, musician, and convicted felon. The former owner and operator of the Greater Wynnewood Exotic Animal Park (a.k.a. G. W. Zoo) in Wynnewood, Oklahoma, Maldonado-Passage had claimed to be the most prolific breeder of tigers in the United States. He twice unsuccessfully ran for public office, first for President of the United States in 2016 as an independent, and then for Governor of Oklahoma in 2018 as a Libertarian.
Carole Baskin
Carole Baskin (born June 6, 1961) is an American animal rights activist and owner of Big Cat Rescue, a non-profit animal sanctuary based near Tampa, Florida. Baskin drew public attention when she was featured in the 2020 Netflix documentary series Tiger King: Murder, Mayhem and Madness about Oklahoma-based private zoo operator known as Joe Exotic. The Netflix series follows both Baskin and Joe Exotic, filming their ongoing and escalating feuds over exotic animals in private zoos. Following the series' release, Baskin has been targeted by Internet memes related to the disappearance of Don Lewis, her second husband.

When it comes to the heated rivalry between roadside zookeeper Joe Exotic and animal-welfare activist Carole Baskin in “Tiger King,” Diane Keaton is taking sides.

The revered actress — and longtime animal-rights activist — was so disturbed by the way Exotic and other private zoo owners treated their tigers and animals that she immediately endorsed the Big Cat Public Safety Act, the same bill backed by Baskin and her Big Cat Rescue sanctuary. “I have always been in awe of big cats.

These majestic creatures are an essential part of our ecosystems and that is where they belong; in the wilderness,” Keaton said in a statement to The Post Monday. “Personal ownership of these animals saddens me and exploits them as well.
