A family was torn apart after a gran and granddaughter were both killed when a driver's car 'swerved violently' onto the other side of the road.
A toddler was also rushed to hospital 'covered in glass' following the incident. Rhys Miles killed both Justine Hughes and her grandmother Denise Hughes in the horror crash in Fochriw Road on July 19 last year.
Cardiff Crown Court heard on Monday (July 25) that Justine, 30, had been travelling in her blue Citroen C3 at around 10.15am on the morning of the crash with her grandmother Denise Hughes, 79, and Justine's three-year-old son when they were hit by a white Ford Ranger driven by Miles.
Justine's vehicle ended up on its side while Miles' landed on its roof. Both Justine and Denise died at the scene and the little boy and Miles were injured, reports WalesOnline.
