Devastated friends of alleged murder victim Liam Maloney have raised nearly £8k in a fundraising drive to help support his grieving family.
Dad-of-three Liam was discovered with serious injuries on Niddrie's Marischal Road in the east of Edinburgh at around 8pm on Thursday May 5.
The 30-year-old was taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary for treatment, but he passed away on Saturday. Ryan McCabe, 48, appeared at the city’s sheriff court on Tuesday charged in connection with Liam’s murder.
Family friend Jodie Handren launched the GoFundMe page in a bid to raise £1000 but within hours the figure had rocketed to nearly £8,000.Jodie wrote: "Liam was an amazing, selfless man with a heart of gold, always the best laugh, and everyone’s biggest critic (every conversation started with an insult)."Most importantly, he made time for everyone, especially his family and friends."We all have many memories from kicking about Niddrie, from the many conversations, parties or funny stories that will live on with us all."He was, without a doubt, The very best."This Go Fund Me is to help support the family and his three children left behind.
