Football fans in Greater Manchester have paid tribute to a 'club legend' who has tragically died. Stephen 'Piggo' Piggott was well-known as a club stalwart at Cheadle Town Football Club.

In a statement issued on Wednesday night (February 13), a spokesperson for West Didsbury and Chorlton AFC said: "We are devastated to learn of the passing of our men's goalkeeping coach Stephen Piggott.

Piggo joined us in the summer of 2024 as part of Paul Marshall and Steve Yarwood's management team. "A well-known and well-loved figure in non-league, especially at our neighbours Cheadle Town where he holds legendary status.
