Carolyn Giardina Marvel’s “Deadpool & Wolverine” and Warner Bros.’ “Dune Part 2” lead the closely-watched feature competition for 72nd annual Motion Picture Sound Editors Golden Reel Awards, with three nominations apiece.

Both received noms in the categories for dialogue/ADR, effects and foley, and music. “Alien: Romulus,” “A Complete Unknown,” “Emilia Pérez”” and “Wicked” follow with two nominations apiece.

All six movies are shortlisted for the Oscar in sound alongside “The Wild Robot,” which received one Golden Reel nomination, in the animated feature category; and “Blitz,” “Gladiator II” and “Joker: Folie à Deux” which were shut out of the MPSE noms.

The Oscar in sound combines sound editing and mixing. (Nominations for the Cinema Audio Society Awards, which recognize outstanding sound mixing, will be announced on Tuesday.) Sound branch members select the five category Oscar nominees.
