‘Deadloch,’ Amazon’s Australian Crime-Comedy Series, Heads for Second Season
variety.comPatrick Frater Asia Bureau Chief “Deadloch,” an Amazon original comedy drama series from Australia, has been given the green light for a second season The first season saw two very different female detectives thrown together to solve the murder of a man and was set in Tasmania.
While the second season sees the return of Kate Box and Madeleine Sami as detectives Dulcie Collins and Eddie Redcliffe, it shifts the action to tropical northern Queensland, known locally as the ‘Top End.’ “The detective duo are in Darwin investigating the death of Eddie’s former policing partner, Bushy, but when the bodies of two Top End icons are discovered in a remote town, they are flung into a new sweatier, stickier investigation,” according to an official synopsis.
Other cast reprising their roles are Nina Oyama and Alicia Gardiner. Production on the six-part second season will start later this year and the completed show will be released globally on Prime Video at an unspecified date.
Principal photography will also involve a stint at the Screen Queensland Studios in Brisbane, as well as utilizing the state’s waterways.” The first season of “Deadloch” was a critical and audience success.
