16-time Grammy winning songwriter and producer David Foster has been working on a Betty Boop musical for over a decade and the show finally has a world premiere date! BOOP!
The Betty Boop Musical will have a pre-Broadway debut in Chicago at the end of the year with a limited six-week engagement. David wrote the music for the show and he teamed up with Tony nominee Susan Birkenhead, who wrote the lyrics.
Tony winner Bob Martin, best known for creating The Drowsy Chaperone and The Prom, wrote the book for the musical.
Tony winner Jerry Mitchell will direct. In BOOP!, Betty’s dream of an ordinary day off from the super-celebrity in her black-and-white world leads to an extraordinary adventure of color, music, and love in New York City—one that reminds her and the world, “You are capable of amazing things.” Boop-oop-a-doop!
