Phil Neville has candidly discussed the moment he was let go by his good friend David Beckham, saying it was "actually harder for David than it was for me".
Neville, who took the reins at Inter Miami, the MLS team co-owned by Beckham, in January 2021, found himself dismissed from the managerial position after two-and-a-half years with the team languishing at the bottom of the MLS Eastern Conference.
Gary Neville, Phil's brother, has also spoken out about his initial concerns when Phil accepted the job, due to the "inevitable" situation where Beckham would have to fire him.
On an episode of The Overlap US, Gary expressed his apprehension: "Phil, I was nervous when you took the Inter Miami job," and added, "I obviously knew at some point the likelihood would be that our best friend, David Beckham, would have to come and have a conversation with you about a change.
