David Beckham has opened up about an awkward meeting he had with the Queen 20 years ago when Her Majesty asked how is family was doing.

The former Manchester United star says he was left speechless as he handed over the Jublilee baton at an event back in 2002 having just won the Premier League for the sixth time in his professional career.

David looking back at that day, he remembered the Queen said: "How's Victoria, how's the kids?" But it soon turned awkward as he added: "I couldn't even answer, it was an incredible moment.It was a moment Beckham would remember forever, although he did freeze under pressure.

Pictures of the special day showed the sporting legend wearing a classy suit as he shook hands with the Monarch, who wore a green dress.On Friday, Beckham paid tribute to the Queen on a message on social media as he admitted he is "devastated" by the news.
