Prankster David Beckham led Manchester United stars on a paint- balling spree that wrecked the club bus, a teammate has revealed.

Becks – nicknamed Goldenballs – had picked up paintball guns with teammate Ryan Giggs for the squad to enjoy on a boozy away-day.

But the footballer, then aged 22, and other players opened fire on the bus, leaving it in need of a respray. Former defender David May, 50, told the Utd Podcast that players were left “black and blue” after the 1998 session.

He said: “Becks and Giggsy went to a paintballing shop and they come out with these £500 paintballing guns – brand new, like silver revolvers they were. “We peppered the bus.
