David won the award for Best Featured Actor in a Play for his role as Tech Sergeant Vernon C.
Waters in A Soldier’s Play. This is David‘s first Tony win after four nominations. “To the other nominees, tough bananas!
I won!” David jokingly said in his acceptance speech. Other nominees stepping out for the awards show included Blair Underwood, Ian Barford, Jane Alexander, and Cora Vander Broek.
