Former Rangers chairman Dave King admits he was "a little surprised" by Steven Gerrard 's comments on spending as he insists the manager has been backed.
The Ibrox boss warned the club would have to spend "big money" to compete in Europe, as he suggested that they "haven't spent a penny" in the last two windows.
That was taken by many as a criticism of the Rangers board, but former chairman King insists that the man he brought to Scotland has been backed.
He pointed to the fact the Premiership champions have held on to the likes of Glen Kamara and Alfredo Morelos as evidence that there has been investment.
