The actor who played Darth Vader in the original Star Wars trilogy, David Prowse has died. The 85-year-old had been battling a short illness before his death.
The former bodybuilder was cast in the role thanks to his physique and 6’6″ height but the character was voiced by James Earl Jones.
His agent Thomas Bowington confirmed the news of his passing to the BBC and added ‘may the force be with him, always.’ ‘Though famous for playing many monsters — for myself, and all who knew Dave and worked with him, he was a hero in our lives.’ he said.
