Anderton was a Spurs stalwart during the 1990s and early 2000s, making 358 appearances in all competitions and helping them win the 1999 League Cup.
He also won 30 England caps and played an important part in the country's run to the semi-final of Euro 96. Had it not been for the width of the post, he might have even sent the Three Lions to the final.
That's just one instance in Anderton's career of what could have been, because in 1995, he was attracting admiring glances from Sir Alex Ferguson and Manchester United.
