Former Old Trafford striker Danny Welbeck has told Evan Ferguson that he would come under “a bit more scrutiny” at Manchester United should he make a transfer and encouraged him to stay at Brighton.
The 18-year-old has scored seven times in 20 outings for the Seagulls since his breakthrough last season with all of his strikes coming this term.
The attacker also netted his first goal for the Republic of Ireland in last month’s 3-2 win over Latvia in Euro 2024 qualifying.
His form this campaign has driven speculation about a potential summer move away from the South coast. United have been among the teams tentatively linked for Ferguson, although ex-academy Welbeck was careful about advising a move to Old Trafford.
