Former Eastenders actress Danniella Westbrook has revealed that she is to go under the knife once again as NHS medics undertake around £500,000 worth of reconstructive surgery to help repair her face after years of drug use.
The surgery will rebuild the star’s damaged cheekbones and reform her collapsed nose, after she very nearly suffered life threatening complications as a result of the damage caused by her previous substance abuse. The 48 year old star had previously ruled out having surgery as the private fees were too high, but following a health scare last Christmas which left her struggling to breathe and resulted in an intensive care stay, the NHS stepped in to schedule the procedure.
The complex surgery will involve taking part of one of Danniella’s ribs and inserting it into her face to help repair the damaged bone structure, which had begun to disintegrate after being subjected to years worth of drug and alcohol addiction that the star has openly battled for years.
