Danielle Deadwyler Joins Steve Carell College Comedy at HBO

Joe Otterson TV Reporter Danielle Deadwyler has joined the upcoming college comedy series at HBO starring Steve Carell, Variety has learned.

The untitled show was originally picked up in May 2024 at the premium cabler. Along with Carell, “Ted Lasso” alum Phil Dunster and Charly Clive also star.

HBO has commissioned 10 half-hour episodes. The official logline for the show describes it as “a single-camera comedy set on a college campus, centering on an author’s (Carell) complicated relationship with his daughter (Clive).” Details on Deadwyler’s character are currently being kept under wraps.

Deadwyler’s recent TV credits include fellow WBD shows “Watchmen” and “Station Eleven,” as well as shows like “P-Valley” at Starz and “From Scratch” at Netflix.
