Glasgow has been jailed for eight months. Jamie Paton, who was in a Ford Fiesta, weaved onto the wrong side of the road, narrowly missed colliding with other vehicles and drove down a street saying no entry.
At one point during the 10-minute chase, police tried to form a barrier using two police cars, but Paton, 28, swerved round them and kept on driving.
Paton drove along Carmunnock Road in excess of 80mph and police called off the chase due to fears of public safety. His car was later found abandoned and Paton was traced to Holmbyre Road in Castlemilk. When he was arrested he told officers: “I just s**t it and drove off.”Glasgow Sheriff Court heard Paton drove on the wrong side of the road and ignored no entry signs in Castlemilk.
