Dancing With The Stars’ contestant ‘fighting for her life’ in hospital
ok.co.ukOlympic gold-winning US gymnast Mary Lou Retton is currently battling a rare form of pneumonia in intensive care.The 55-year-old retired sportsperson's daughter, McKenna Kelley, shared that her mum is currently "fighting for her life" and "unable to breathe on her own" in hospital.
She's also launched a fundraiser to help pay for Mary Lou's medical treatment because she doesn't have life insurance. McKenna posted on fundraising site Spotfund, "My amazing mom, Mary Lou, has a very rare form of pneumonia and is fighting for her life.
She is not able to breathe on her own. She’s been in the ICU for over a week now." She went on to urge fans to help by praying for her mum, who took part in America's Dancing With The Stars (the US version of Strictly) in 2018, and contributing anything they can to the fundraiser. "Out of respect for her and her privacy, I will not disclose all details.
However, I will disclose that she is not insured. We ask that if you could help in any way, that 1) you PRAY! and 2) if you could help us with finances for the hospital bill," she added. "ANYTHING, absolutely anything, would be so helpful for my family and my mom.Thank y’all so very much!" McKenna is hoping to raise $50,000 to go towards her mum's mounting hospital bills.
