Dancing On Ice star Vanessa Bauer heartbroken after tragic family loss

As Dancing On Ice fans eagerly await the return of the glitzy skating show tonight (Sunday 12 January), professional skater Vanessa Bauer shared her excitement about being back on the ice in an exclusive chat with OK!

The 28 year old German skater, who joined the series in 2018 and won in her first year with X Factor's Jake Quickenden, has made quite a name for herself.

She's reached the final multiple times, most recently with Made In Chelsea's Miles Nazaire in 2024. But away from the sparkle of the ITV show, where she's partnered with Love Island's Chris Taylor, Vanessa has faced personal heartbreak.

Her beloved father Marco passed away in 2021 after a courageous seven-year battle with cancer - a loss she admits is still painful to think about.To honour his memory and raise awareness for children's bereavement charity Grief Encounter, Vanessa took part in a five-day charity trek in Slovenia last October.The charity provides support for young people dealing with the loss of a loved one.
