Dancing On Ice fan favourite Bez opened up about the time he was almost killed after being caught in the middle of a drug row.

The Happy Mondays singer revealed he had a gun held to his throat following an incident with some South American dealers. The 57-year-old was on a stateside holiday in New York City when he fell out with the scary group. As he lives to tell the tale, he confessed the only reason he was able to escape was because a pal distracted the gangsters, allowing Bez and his mates to make a run for it.Bez described the experience in his new book titled Freaky Dancing: Me and The Monday's.

As reported in The Mirror, he wrote about how the scare happened in the 1980s, and said: "A Puerto Rican gang surrounded us and this kid pulled out a gun and shoved it in my throat. "It dawned on me that I might have a problem on my hands.

But God must have been looking down on me because a guy then appeared at the end of the alleyway and quickly diffused the situation and dragged me away while I was arguing the toss."Maybe I was a bit too excited and overly animated at the time but I can be like that when I am on drugs."It's the latest revelation from the Dancing On Ice favourite, who also said he once lived in a Moroccan cave to escape angry locals. After being booted out of his family home in Salford, Greater Manchester, and falling foul of the authorities, he upped sticks and headed to Morocco in North Africa. He told the Guardian magazine: "At the peak of my rebellion, I did time in detention centres and borstals."I was living on the street and getting into all sorts of trouble.
