She portrayed Kate Connor in Corrie but decided to leave the cobbles in 2019. Brookes was previously engaged to singer Gareth Gates who took part in Dancing on Ice in 2014 but she is now with her new boyfriend Joe Davies.
She also follows in the footsteps of Coronation Street cast members Jane Danson and former colleague Brooke Vincent. Brookes was originally partnered up with Hamish Gaman but as he had to step down because of an injury, she is now dancing with Matt Evers.
