Dana Carvey returned to his Fly on the Wall podcast with David Spade yesterday, his first time back since the death of his 32-year-old son Dex last November. “If you’re listening to our podcast right now, you probably know about my family’s loss,” Carvey said at the top of the show. “I just wanted to say that the amount of outpouring online and emailing and people I still haven’t been able to call back is incredible.” Listen to the podcast below.
The former SNL star said he had pondered his return over the holidays “and decided to come back to the podcast because I think, you know, it’s a long day when you’re not working and you get in your head, and I think it’s going to be a great break.
And I think it’s really cool to laugh.” Carvey announced shortly after the November 15 loss of his son to an accidental drug overdose that he’d be taking a break from work and social media.
At the time, he wrote on Instagram that he needed “to figure out what life looks like now that we are a family of 3. We will heal and carry on the best we can.
