Dan Walker opens up on 'difficult' BBC Breakfast exit as Sally Nugent gets emotional

BBC Breakfast host Dan Walker has broken his silence following the news that he is leaving the show to head to Channel 5’s revamped news bulletin.

Dan, who announced he was quitting the show after six years in a statement on Monday 4 April, spoke to his co-host Sally Nugent as he took his seat on the famous sofa.The 45 year old presenter turned to Sally, 50, as she said: “We've been friends for 20 years, we worked together for six months.

And you're off!" Dan then opened up about the “difficulty” behind his decision and said he’d miss the show hugely. He continued: “I think sometimes opportunities come by and you have to grab them, don't you? “I've never ever been motivated by money in any job that I've ever taken and even though I love BBC Breakfast and everybody that works on the show, it's a fantastic opportunity to work with a brilliant team at Channel 5.” Dan also teased that he could be working on some other top secret projects for the small screen in the future.
