Damian Lewis has handed a CBE in the Queen's birthday honours List, recognising his charity work with his late wife Helen McCrory.
Damian, 51, was handed the royal honour during the Queen's Platinum Jubilee for his services to drama and charity. The actor said he and his late wife Helen were “thrilled” with the honour.
Helen was 52 when she died in April last year, following a battle with breast cancer. She leaves behind Damian and the two children they share together.
Actress Helen kept her cancer battle a secret in the lead up to her passing. Before her death, Helen and Damian co-founded Feed NHS, an initiative which saw them both working with restaurant Leon on the campaign of the same name in a bid to provide NHS workers with meals during the coronavirus crisis.
