Dame Olivia Newton-John asked God to ‘save’ daughter’s life after being ‘close to losing her’

Dame Olivia Newton-John revealed in one of her final interviews that she asked God for her daughter to be ‘saved’.The Grease actress died at her home in California on Monday at the age of 73 following a 30-year battle with cancer.

She has been survived by husband John Easterling and daughter Chloe, who was her only child. A resurfaced interview from last year sees Dame Olivia speak about her spirituality and the difficulties she faced when pregnant with Chloe, now aged 36, in the eighties.‘I remember when I was pregnant with Chloe, and I was close to losing her at one point and I had to go to bed.‘I remember I asked God to please save her and if he did, I would say the Lord’s Prayer every night for the rest of my life and so I have.‘It is my favourite prayer, I think it’s a beautiful prayer a powerful prayer.

I believe in prayer and I think prayer is very powerful,’ she said on Sarah Grynberg’s A Life of Greatness podcast.Dame Olivia was 38-years-old when pregnant with Chloe, and was closely monitored at the time, before her daughter safely arrived in 1986.During the interview, the Physical singer also spoke about contemplating death, something she thought to be ‘extremely personal’.‘We all know that we’re going to die, I think we spend our lives probably much in denial of it.

I think we’re the only species that has that awareness,’ she said. ‘It’s extremely personal, I find that hard to put into words.
