ITV's Loose Women was back on at lunchtime today for the first time since having a four-day break in the wake of the Queen's death last Thursday (September 8) and emotions were running high.
Dame Kelly Holmes joined the panel for the first time and teared up during a moving opening montage of Her Majesty's life. Set to the operatic and stirring Time To Say Goodbye, the introduction featured some lovely moments from the Queen's life as well as some sadder ones such as when she sat alone at the funeral of her late husband, Prince Phillip.
The montage ended with Dame Vera Lynn singing The White Cliffs of Dover and led into Ruth Langsford's introduction to the show.Though by the time the panellists had watched the montage there was barely a dry eye in the house, most notably newcomer Dame Kelly, 52, who appeared particularly moved by the tribute as Ruth, 62, said: "It's already got Kelly in tears, I've got the tissues." From today, Dame Kelly has joined Loose Women as a full-time panellist. The Olympic legend announced that she was gay earlier this year and revealed she was inspired to join the show after the reaction to her emotional documentary Kelly Holmes: Being Me.
