Dame Deborah James, the fan favorite BBC podcast host, has sadly passed away at the age of 40 after documenting her battle with cancer.
The 40-year-old journalist was diagnosed with incurable bowel cancer in 2017 and in 2020, she actually announced she was cancer free.
The cancer returned, and she had been fighting ever since. She announced last month that she was entering hospice care. Her family announced her death in a post on her Instagram, which included some words of advice from Deborah. Deborah passed away peacefully today, surrounded by her family.
Deborah, who many of you will know as Bowelbabe, was an inspiration and we are incredibly proud of her and her work and commitment to charitable campaigning, fundraising and her endless efforts to raise awareness of cancer that touched so many lives.” The post added, “Deborah shared her experience with the world to raise awareness, break down barriers, challenge taboos and change the conversation around cancer.
