Dalbeattie Star served up one of their best performances this season in front of a bumper crowd at Islecroft.Ritchie Maxwell’s side were professional in dealing with Rangers Colts on Saturday in front of their largest Lowland League attendance of 531.But the three points were just as big for boss Maxwell.

He said: “It’s a great result for us and the boys were superb.“It was a big day for us having an Old Firm team down at Islecroft for the first time.

It was important that we weren’t overwhelmed by that. It was our biggest Lowland League crowd and that’s a positive of having the Old Firm in the league.“It was good for the boys to play in front of a crowd like that against boys of that quality.
