Dalbeattie Star dished out six of the best on Saturday against Upper Annandale. Eddie Warwick’s side ran out 6-0 winners at Islecroft, the goal rush beginning in the very first minute when Cammy Shaw found the net.
Warwick said: “I was delighted with many factors. It was a very good start to the game and we were ready to go from the first whistle. “We had done our homework on the opposition and prepared properly all week.
We played well, it was a good performance and we controlled the game for large spells. “But credit to Uppers, when they had their opportunities they kept the ball well, looked to play football on the ground and moved us around and made us work hard, which I admire and appreciate a lot. “Fortunately we had the opportunity to make five changes earlier in the game so there was plenty of game time for the overall squad. “We have been performing well this season, even last week in the Scottish Cup it was just a bad 45 minutes against a far superior level. “In general the players have been great and delivered each week in training and in games.” It took Star less than 60 seconds minute to go ahead through Cammy Shaw with Ross Hunter doubling the lead after a quarter of an hour.
Recent arrival Declan Rogerson scored with his first touch in Star colours early in the second half as the home side took full control, Farrel O’Sullivan getting the fourth with a free-kick.
