Dakota Johnson Talks Mom Melanie Griffith's Reaction to 'The Lost Daughter' Movie, Which She's Watched 3 Times

The 32-year-old actress plays the mother of a young daughter who becomes the fixation of a woman vacationing at the same spot, played by Olivia Colman. Click inside to read what Dakota said about her mom’s reaction to the movie… In a new interview with EW, Dakota talked about how her mom Melanie Griffith reacted to the movie, which she has watched three times. “I’m not a mother, but I do have one, and I have a stepmother, and my family is quite complicated,” Dakota said. “So there are a lot of maternal women around, and every single one is so different, and the way they connect to their children is so different.
It’s just so impossible to articulate. And it’s a lie that you have to enjoy [motherhood] at all times. I think [director Maggie Gyllenhaal] just tells the truth about it in this film.” Dakota says her mom is still processing the movie.
She added, “My mom watched it three times, and I don’t really know. I think for some people it takes time to marinate. I think when she’s ready to talk to me about it, she will.” Dakota recently talked about why she had to call out her mom for something she posted on social media.
