Billy Nomates has announced details of her second album,’CACTI’, and is previewing it with first single ‘Balance Is Gone’.The new record, which follows a debut album from 2020 and last year’s follow-up EP ‘Emergency Telephone’, is released on January 13, 2023 via the Invada label.Speaking of the process of writing the new album, Billy Nomates – aka Tor Maries – said: “Writing ‘CACTI’ took just over a year. I wrote very intensely and then none at all. (This seems to be the way I work best).“I picked up old drum machines, mapped out things in my kitchen with the same small micro keyboard I always use and then raided the cupboards and rooms at Invada Studios, to play and experiment with old synths, an upright piano, this weird organ thing.

The Afghan Whigs’ Greg Dulli has spoken to NME about his band’s new album ‘How Do You Burn?’, which features contributions from his late friend and collaborator Mark Lanegan.Work on the Whigs’ ninth studio album, which arrived on Friday (September 9), began in 2020 after COVID-19 curtailed Dulli’s plans to tour his solo record ‘Random Desire’.Forced to record much of the record remotely, Dulli, guitarist/co-producer Christopher Thorn and drummer Patrick Keeler formed a bubble together in California, while bassist John Curley, guitarist Jon Skibic and keyboardist/strings player Rick G. Nelson laid down their parts in Cincinnati, New Jersey and New Orleans respectively.“Most of the records I do are reactions to the one before it, so the solo record was more of a muted affair [while] I went in the opposite direction for ‘How Do You Burn?’,”  Dulli told NME about the latter’s grandiose, energetic sound.“Luckily, Patrick, Christopher and I live in California so I was able to play live with them, [which] gave the record the immediacy I think it has.

Charles is leading some of the royals on foot, alongside the likes of the Duke of York, Earl of Wessex, Princess Royal and her husband Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence – while the Queen Consort and other members of the monarchy follow in cars. While Charles, Anne and Edward were all in military uniform, Andrew was not as he isn't a working member of the royal family.

Aretha Franklin has proven that the bureau extensively tracked the late singer’s civil rights activism.The 270-page document features reports on the singer from more than 12 US states, and focuses on her friendship with Martin Luther King as well as death threats made against her and a copyright case involving a Yahoo! Groups fan site.The document, which is available to view here, shows that Franklin was monitored ahead of and around her appearances at civil rights movement events, including the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People and the Southern Christian Leadership Conference.The events took place in the late 1960s in Atlanta, Georgia and Memphis, Tennessee respectively, and were referred to by the FBI in the document as “communist infiltration” events.Elsewhere, Franklin was referenced in a note titled: “Assassination of Martin Luther King. Racial matters,” and notes were made of her involvement in a planned memorial concert for the famous activist.

Christian Horner says F1 abandoned a key policy by allowing the Italian Grand Prix to finish under a safety car.The Red Bull boss’s lead driver, Max Verstappen, won the race to take another step towards his second world title, which could be clinched as early as the next race in Singapore.However, even Horner was unhappy with the manner of the finale of the race after Daniel Ricciardo broke down in a tricky position on the track.
