A dad began to foam at the mouth in bed before ripping his own collarbone apart. Michael Holt's wife Lin woke up to the frightening scenes as her husband suffered a diabetic attack.

Michael, who has type one diabetes, had accidentally taken two insulin shots before going to bed. The 54-year-old fell asleep as normal.

But later on, Lin woke up to her husband foaming at the mouth, and she had to call for paramedics. As they stabilised his condition, Michael sat up in bed before ripping apart his collarbone, the Liverpool Echo reports. Paramedics managed to bring me around but I was still out of it. “For some reason, I decided to put my hands on my collarbone and I burrowed into my skin and pulled it apart… My wife heard the noise and thought I was ripping the bed linen.” Michael, from Heswall on the Wirral, had to have double reconstructive shoulder surgery following the 2015 incident - with 20 titanium pins fitted, and a metal plate was also fitted in his left arm.
