Cyndi Lauper has reflected on her performance at Glastonbury 2024, saying it “sucked”.At last year’s Saturday slot on June 29, the ‘Girls Just Wanna Have Fun’ singer’s set was plagued by audio issues when she took to the Pyramid Stage.Timing appeared to be an issue, with reports at the time suggesting there may have been an issue with her in-ear monitors, which was notably evident when she sang ‘Rocking Chair’.She was also seen having a brief dispute with members of the production team side-stage, with viewers watching at home taking to social media to note there seemed to be an issue, although it seemed to be resolved by the time she launched into ‘I Drove All Night’ midway through.Having just announced the final leg of her North American ‘Girls Just Wanna Have Fun’ farewell tour, she reflected on the moment, as well as her upcoming last hurrah in a recent interview with The Times.“I want to say goodbye big, you know?” she said, adding that while there is an art to “standing still and singing”, she did “not have that talent” and would prefer to continue with her high-octane sets.“So I don’t know how long I’m going to be able to do the kind of performance that I feel is right,” she continued.
Reflecting on the issues that beset her Worthy Farm performance, she said: “I couldn’t hear the band and that sucked. I wanted to be really great.”Check out a full list of tour dates here and visit here to purchase tickets. She also opened up about why she decided to have a farewell tour while appearing as a guest on Jimmy Kimmel Live last year. While she clarified that she’s by no means retiring, Lauper has ruled out “the trains, planes and automobiles”, suggesting that she’s open to the occasional hometown performance.
