Cyclist taken to hospital with head injury after crash in town centre

A cyclist was taken to hospital with a head injury after a crash in Stockport. Police officers and paramedics were called to the scene on Churchgate near the town centre yesterday afternoon (Tuesday).

A bicycle and car were involved in a collision. The cyclist was taken to hospital from the scene. A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said they suffered a 'non life-threatening' head injury. In a tweet posted yesterday, Stockport Council said: "Due to an accident @GMPolice have closed Churchgate in the town centre (near the Market Place) between Millgate and Wellington Street.
