Curtis Jones has played down comparisons with Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard despite impressing in the Reds' 7-2 victory over Lincoln while wearing the No.17 shirt.
While Gerrard is chiefly associated with the No.8 on Merseyside, he donned the No.17 jersey for many seasons as he rose to first-team status at the turn of the century.
Gerrard's performances for Liverpool with No.17 on his back saw him break into the England set-up in 2000, while he won the FA Cup, Europa League and League Cup one year later.
Meanwhile, Jones switched from the No.48 shirt to No.17 ahead of this season and dazzled in his first appearance of the campaign.
