A Curry Mile takeaway was raided by police following a tip-off about nitrous oxide being sold, a council meeting heard. Cops searched Wilmslow Road’s Camel One, on November 13, following intelligence so-called ‘laughing gas’ was on offer, a town hall meeting was told.
Officers seized a van parked outside, within which ‘a large quantity of nitrous oxide canisters and balloons were found’ and two canisters of the Class C drug ‘behind the counter area’, PC Alan Isherwood told the hearing.
GMP also seized ‘weeks’ of CCTV footage, he added. Video evidence played at the hearing showed a customer paying with cash and inflating a balloon using a canister.
PC Isherwood added: “In all there were 12 transactions captured. Footage clearly shows there’s drug dealing within the premises." Camel One’s boss and personal licence holder Khawaja Salah Kaleem told the meeting he'd been ‘unwell’ since 2020, meaning he did not visit the store frequently.
