A Moray woman has been banned from keeping animals for five years after her malnourished and sick German Shepherd died. Nine-month-old Berlin was described as "one of the thinnest dogs seen" by a Scottish SPCA inspector who had been called by a vet.Natalia Piszczyk pled guilty to the charge of failure to provide adequate nutrition and veterinary attention for the dog at Elgin Sheriff Court on July 20.
The 20-year-old from Buckie was banned from keeping animals for five years and ordered to carry out 90 hours of unpaid work following investigation.
Officers received a tip-off via their animal helpline on November 16, 2021, after the malnourished dog died after being brought to a local vet.
Inspectors told the court they were able to feel all Berlin's ribs and pelvic bones. They also reported his eyes had "sunken into his head" and there was reddish staining on his paws.
