Cristiano Ronaldo seen after his family thank Liverpool fans for support after baby son's death

Cristiano Ronaldo has been seen out for the first time since announcing the heartbreaking passing of his baby son. The footballing legend, 37, went on to pull out of Manchester United’s highly anticipated game against Liverpool FC last night, Tuesday 19 April, to spend time with his family during this difficult time.

His club said in a statement: “Family is more important than everything + Ronaldo is supporting his loved ones at this immensely difficult time. "As such, we confirm he will not feature in the match against Liverpool at Anfield and we underline the family's request for privacy." While the football match went ahead without Cristiano, his heartbreaking loss didn’t go unnoticed as Liverpool fans sang You’ll Never Walk Alone in the seventh minute of Tuesday night’s game and joined Manchester United’s supporters for a minute-long applause.The footballer’s family went on to thank the game’s attendees for the sweet gesture.

Cristiano’s sister Elma shared a clip of fans singing and wrote on social media: “Thank you for this Liverpool. We will never forget what you did today." His other sister Katia wrote: "Way beyond football" against her own video set against the chorus of You’ll Never Walk Alone.
