'Crazy Rich Asians' Spinoff Focusing On Astrid & Charlie's Romance Is In The Works

According to Deadline, the upcoming movie will focus on fan-favorite characters Astrid and Charlie, played by Gemma Chan and Harry Shum, Jr. Click inside to read more… The outlet also reports that this film, and the planned sequel that would focus on Nick and Rachel’s upcoming nuptials are two separate films that are tied to Kevin Kwan’s second book in the trilogy, “China Rich Girlfriend.” The Astrid and Charlie romance film was written by Jason Kim.
The rom-com will center on Astrid Young Teo, the newly-single cousin Nick Young, who was played by Henry Golding in the original film.
After learning that her husband has been unfaithful to her, she reconnected with former fiancé and first love Charlie Wu at Nick’s engagement party.
