Craig Levein has been SACKED by St Johnstone after four defeats on the spin. The McDiarmid Park club have announced the decision in a short statement with the Perth side picking up just one league win from their first five games.
They sit tenth in the Premiership standings ahead of Kilmarnock and Hearts - who have both underperformed this campaign to date with European football in the early part of the season taking its toll.
The weekend defeat at Hibs has proved the final straw for the club chiefs of St Johnstone. A club statement reads: "The board of directors can announce that St Johnstone Football Club has today parted company with manager Craig Levein.
The football club would like to place on record its thanks to Craig for all of his efforts during his time at McDiarmid Park." The Saints have tasted defeated in their last four outings in all competitions with their only league win coming at Rugby Park against Derek McInnes' Killie.
