Craig Levein has met with American investor keen on a St Johnstone takeover. The Saints manager sat down with members of the group during their visit to Scotland earlier this month.
The USA suitor, who hails from a legal background, and his colleagues took in games against Ross County and Hearts. Discussions with Levein were a key part of the trip as owner Geoff Brown’s dialogue with the prospective buyer moved up a level.
Brown declared his intention to sell his majority stake in the Perth club 14 months ago. There are signs this transatlantic interest could go the distance and a deal might be struck before the end of the season.
However, Levein stressed that all such off-field manoeuvres will remain just that. Takeover talk won’t be a topic for dressing room discussion as he seeks to ease Saints further away from bother at the bottom of the Premiership.
