Craig Levein admits his whirlwind return to management was mentally draining. The new St Johnstone boss was taken aback by the intensity of a week that secured four precious Premiership points.
He was unveiled as Steven MacLean’s replacement nine days ago and drew a 2-2 thriller with Motherwell 36 hours later. Levein then steered Saints off the bottom of the table by beating Ross County last weekend.
It was a hectic introduction after four years away from the frontline as a boss. But Levein stressed he loved helping to lift Saints’ spirits and he’s in the mood to capitalise on that fine start.
Reflecting on his comeback week, Levein said: “I have enjoyed it. I was knackered, though! You forget how intense the whole thing is.
