Customers and staff at the Dumfries branch of Morrisons have craftily got this year’s annual Scottish Poppy Appeal all sown up.
Last year an amazing display of handmade poppies and a memorial tree, together with in-store donations, raised a magnificent £4,306 for the Royal British Legion Dumfries and Maxwelltown branch’s fundraising.
And the supermarket’s community champion, Myra Smith, is hoping to go one better after enlisting the help of two groups of crafters to make this year’s stunning display in-store and on the post box outside in a bid to raise awareness and encourage donations.
Both works of art were launched on Wednesday and Myra said: “I hope this year’s new display raises as much interest in the appeal as it has in previous years. “Thank you to everyone involved.
